What is Helios IP?

The IP Helios is an advanced IP video door phone based on SIP standard, competitively priced and easy to use. The IP Helios combines professional design and technology features with excellent picture quality, ease of deployment and broad interoperability with 3rd party SIP products. The IP Helios is the first H.264 IP video door phone that supports real-time high-quality video.

 

What Protocols does Helios IP Support?

Supported protocols: SIP 2.0 (RFC 3261)/TCP/IP/UDP, RTP/HTTP/, ARP, DHCP, DNS,

TFTP, NTP 

 

How many Endpoints can Helios IP Support?

Basic Version up to 54 and Professional Version up to 999

 

What Endpoints does Helios IP support?

HIP will support SIP H.264 Video Phones, Soft Phones and Audio only SIP Phones.

 

Does Helios IP need a IP PBX to function?

NO, HIP can integrate into most networks and the IP PBX functionality, like call forwarding, time scheduling, ring time limit, call time limit and number of dial cycles, etc are included.

 

Can Helios IP do Peer to Peer communication?

YES, HIP can do peer to peer calls to the Grandstream Video Phones or to a soft phone that supports H.264 video, like Counterpath's BRIA

 

Does Helios IP need a Power Supply?

NO, HIP has PoE and if no PoE is available, it can be supplied with 12V DC as well

 

Can Helios IP control the entry points to most buildings?

YES, HIP has a built in configurable relay with passwords to activate a door strike, electric gate, turnstile, boom gate, etc.

 

Can Helios IP control more than 1 entry point?

YES, HIP has an optional second relay with it's own set of passwords for operating a second entry and can be synchronised with the built in relay.

 

How does Helios IP activate the built-in relay?

HIP recognises DTMF Tones from the receiver's handset and also from the built-in keypad in some models and when the programmed lock code is entered the relay is activated.

 

How many passwords does HIP have available?

On the Basic version 2 passwords and on the Professional Version 10 passwords. This arrangement is duplicated if the secondary relay is fitted.

 

What is the difference between the Basic and Professional Versions?

Price and functionality. We stock the basic version models which can be upgraded to the professional version by installing the HIP Licence at extra cost. Click here to download the differences.

 

Does the HIP Licence have on-going maintenance fees?

NO, there is a once off licence fee to upgrade to the Professional version.

 

How do I program Helios IP?

HIP has it's own IP Address and through your browser you gain access to all the HIP features and set up menus.

 

How do I find the HIP IP Address?

All HIP units arrive set to DHCP so your router can assign an IP address and also ships with a netscan program to help you find HIP on the network. Alternatively HIP can be set up with a Static IP address 192.168.1.100 by pushing a combination of buttons.

 

What experience is needed to commission Helios IP?

We strongly recommend network knowledge. If you can set up a SIP Phone on a network, you can set up HIP.

 

Does Helios IP have a RJ45 socket for a simple connection?

NO, HIP needs to hard wired via the connector block inside the unit. This is a security feature to add some protection to your network. The network end of the cable should have an RJ45 plug.

 

Does Helios IP have video streaming functions?

YES, on the professional version. HIP has 2 video signals which can work together. One is provided during the SIP call by RTP packets and second one is transmitted via RTSP as a unicast continuous stream. This function can be used for monitoring the entrance through a video server

 

Can Helios IP Camera be used for monitoring at night?

YES, but the image is in black and white with a low lux level of 2, so we recommend the backlight be turned up to 100% and also extra lighting be installed to illuminate the area around HIP.

 

Can the backlight be turned off?

YES, but we recommend leaving the backlight on as it helps to dry out any humidity around the camera. 

 

What IP Rating is Helios IP?

HIP is rated at IP54 which is fully dust proof and water resistant. HIP can be upgraded to improved water resistance by the correct installation of the optional rain hood.
